This "tricky" configuration is none other than just a couple of Yagi antennas joint with the ends of their elements. Actually, its electrodynamic principle is the same as the "double quad" antenna.
Unidirectional vectors are added, the opposite vectors cancel out.
The only difference is that fitting carried by elements close to ¼ of wavelengths, which due to its natural properties do not affect the antenna operation. The antenna feeding is not provided through the loop gap, but using the "hot end", i.e. the voltage loop with the gamma match
This design allows the antenna to form a symmetrical radiation pattern at a larger own aperture, thereby ensuring a high gain. As well as the design is successful from a mechanical point of view. Initially, the antenna has been designed for ease of postal delivery, due to its folding design.
